Ribs in maple syrup sauce

Serve baked ribs covered in a hunter’s sauce with cubes of roasted squash and enjoy this tasty meal.

Ribs in maple syrup sauce

Ingredients

  • salt
  • Vegeta Maestro ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 50 ml maple syrup
  • 1 packet Fant blend for Hunter’s sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Vegeta
  • 1.2 kg pork ribs

FOR SIDE DISH

  • 4 tablespoons oil
  • 250 g Zlato Polje 3-Rice blend
  • Vegeta Maestro ground black pepper
  • salt
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 400 g butternut squash

Preparation

  1. Cut ribs into smaller pieces and season with Vegeta, salt and pepper, and leave to marinate.
  2. Place marinated ribs in an oiled baking dish and bake about 30 minutes in oven preheated to 180°C. Coat with a little maple syrup and bake about 20 minutes until tender.
  3. Save about 5 tablespoons of cooking juices to make the gravy with the Fant Hunter’s sauce. Mix the contents of the Fant packet with 300 ml warm water. Add to cooking juices and whisk until the sauce comes to a boil. Cook for 3 minutes over low heat, stirring, and finally add in the cooking juices.
  4. Cut squash into cubes and fry in a little oil in a pan. When softened, add chopped garlic, salt and pepper.
  5. Cook rice in salted water, drain and mix into squash.

Serving: Serve baked ribs with squash and rice covered in Hunter’s sauce.

Advice: Ribs should be thin and meaty to ensure they bake quickly and are really tasty.
