Podravka among companies donating to MedILS

Sponsored by the Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and chairmen of 28 leading Croatian companies, Darko Marinac for Podravka, signed in Banski dvori with the director of the Mediterranean Institute for life sciences (MedILS) Miroslav Radman a Donation Contract. Total donation is a yearly amount of HRK 5.6 million and during 5 years the companies will yearly donate HRK 200,000. Prime Minister Sanader welcomed this consolidation of leading Croatian companies around an extremely important science project led by Miroslav Radman, pointing out that such support from these companies is enormous, not only for MedILS but also for Croatian science researches and Croatia in general. Government’s sole expectation is complete scientific freedom of MedILS and professor Radman and his associates. Necessary prerequisite for this are material preconditions, emphasized the prime minister, pointing out that the Government has set aside from the budget HRK 30 million for MedILS.

MedILS director Miroslav Radman expressed his hopes that this is a paradigm of a new modern Croatia of the 21st century in which everybody wishes to invest and to take a fast ride towards the better future. Thanking on this support of the Croatian economy elite, he added that the results in science, technology and innovations are visible only at the end. Radman announced that during the next three years he and his associates will in this old and slow Europe try to create a distinguished science center of excellence. In the name of the chairmen, Emil Tedeschi, the chairman of the Atlantic Group Management board and HUP, expressed his satisfaction with shown interest of the business community in an effort to make MedILS one of the leading scientific institutions.
